Presenting our story at the World Indigenous Peoples Conference on Education (WIPCE)

In late 2022 our two Yanalangami team members, Aunty Bernice and Jacinta flew down to Kaurna Country to connect, share stories and learn from Indigenous brothers and sisters from around the world. They were excited about the opportunity to showcase the Yanalangami Indigenous Female Changemakers program to an international audience. Growing national and international networks is essential to keep enhancing the impact of our Indigenous Changemakers.

The 2022 World Indigenous Peoples Conference on Education (WIPCE) was an incredible gathering of Changemakers from around the world, coming together to share their stories, methods and lessons of education and community development with, by and for Indigenous peoples. This was a fruitful trip that inspired new ideas, collaborations and planted many new seeds for Yanalangami’s growth.

A great strength of the Yanalangami Program is that we have connected Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Female Changemakers from the length and breadth of Australia. At present, we have a Yanalangami Changemaker in almost every state and territory. While we were on Kuarna country we couldn’t miss the opportunity to catch up with some of our former and current Changemakers! A big shout out to Aunty Deb (Yunkunytjatjara woman) and our 2022 Changemaker, Ann-Maree (Badtjala Yeeran) who we got to meet in person and share a meal and some leadership stories.
