Yanalangami Place-Based Program on Kaurna Yerta

On Kaurna Yerta, local First Nations women leaders and our Aboriginal Advisory Council (AAC) members came together to connect, grow, lead and create change in their communities!

Our Yanalangami team travelled to Kaurna Country (Port Adelaide, SA), Tuesday 10 – Thursday 12 March 2026 for our place-based in-person delivery.

The program was delivered in collaboration with Tauondi Aboriginal Community College, ensuring this place-based program was grounded in local context and community stories. Together, the program celebrated local voices and centred the lived experiences of women living and learning on Kaurna Country and surrounding areas.

Across three days, 18 South Australian Female Changemakers took part in immersive workshops co-designed with our incredible local AAC. Our AAC included Aunty Cheryl Saunders, Natalie Bauer (2025 Changemaker), Jaimie Pearson (2025 Changemaker) and Mahailia Levai (2024 Changemaker), who walked with us through the development, selection and delivery of the program. These sessions supported personal, professional and cultural growth, strengthening leadership confidence while supporting self-healing.

By creating culturally safe and empowering spaces, the Yanalangami Kaurna Program supported women to walk confidently in their personal leadership journeys, strong in Culture, connected to Community, and grounded in Country.

We are incredibly proud of our Kaurna Yerta Changemakers and Kaurna AAC members; showing up with strength, vulnerability, and stepping into leadership journeys is powerful work!

The program is a reminder that when women come together in love to support each other, healing happens. When our women have strong voice and lead, communities thrive.

Together, we are shaping futures grounded in culture and led by women.

Together, we are Yanalangami.

With deep respect,

The Yanalangami Team

Thank you to Black Cactus Creatives for capturing the program on Kaurna Yerta.
